Biography

John Di Paolo was born in 1946 in New York and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He received a B.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1974 and an M.A. from San Francisco State University in 1977. Di Paolo has had solo exhibitions in San Francisco at Dolby Chadwick Gallery and Andrea Schwartz Gallery, among others. These will be the first pieces by the artist to enter San Jose Museum of Art’s collection. (SJMA Collections Committee, 2005)

Born in 1946 in New York, DiPaolo attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City. DiPaolo has been making his abstract oil paintings for the last thirty years. He uses simple techniques and embraces the accidental.
